Sveti Stefan & Pržno(Sveti Stefan)

Montenegro's most famous postcard image — the island-hotel of Sveti Stefan (the luxury Aman) and the neighbouring village of Pržno with its *konobe*. A half-day trip, best as a triple play: viewpoint, lunch in Pržno, and a swim.

What to see

• •Sveti Stefan beach (the mainland side, pebbled, free entry)
• •A walk through Pržno and a swim on its little beach

• 💡Setting foot on Sveti Stefan itself: Aman guests only — but the photos from the road and the viewpoint are free.

Kotor & Perast(Boka Kotorska)

The most beautiful stretch of the Montenegrin coast — UNESCO-listed Kotor old town with the San Giovanni walls climbing up the mountain, then Perast with the Gospa od Škrpjela islet. The classic full-day loop around the Bay of Kotor (Boka).

What to see

• •Kotor old town — a UNESCO medieval city
• •The San Giovanni fortress (1,350 steps for the best view over the Bay)
• •Perast — a baroque village of 17 palazzos
• •A boat across to Gospa od Škrpjela (Our Lady of the Rocks, an artificial islet — €5 return)

Lovćen NP & Cetinje(Lovćen)

All of Montenegro's history in a single day — Cetinje (the former royal capital) with its museums and monastery, then Lovćen National Park up to Njegoš's mausoleum at 1,657 m. A car is essential.

Skadarsko jezero

The largest lake in the Balkans, a national park with pelicans and 280+ bird species. Take a boat from Virpazar through the bends of the Crnojevića river, with island monasteries and wineries in the hills around the lake.

• •A boat from Virpazar through the lake's bends (a 2-3h tour)
• •Beška or Kom monasteries — Orthodox sanctuaries set on the islands
