ClubFriedrichshainpast midnight

The world's most famous techno club and the institution of the Berlin scene. A former power station with a sound system that exists nowhere else, open from Saturday 23:30 to Monday afternoon (40+ hours non-stop). The door policy is legendarily strict (Sven Marquardt) — whether a tourist gets in is unpredictable. Dress code: black, not in a big group, not smiling ('it's obvious you're here for the first time'). No photos inside (stickers go over your phone camera at the entrance). Entry €18-25, the lineup is never published in advance.

Sat 23:30 → Mon 12:00–18:00 (non-stop through the weekend).

ClubKreuzbergpast midnight

Berlin's second-most famous techno/house club, on the Spree under the Oberbaumbrücke bridge. Two floors — the lower 'Water Floor' has glass walls overlooking the river. World-class resident DJs. The door is less strict than Berghain — tourists make it through if dressed correctly (not blue jeans + white sneakers).

Fri/Sat 23:30–10:00 (morning).

ClubMittepast midnight

The original Berlin techno club, founded in 1991 in the basement of a former bank (hence 'tresor' = vault). Closed in 2005, brought back in 2007 inside a former Mitte power station. Over 4,000 m² of industrial space, classic Detroit techno sound. Less strict door than Berghain, but the atmosphere of 'real' nineties Berlin.

Fri/Sat 23:00–12:00 (morning).

Wed–Sat 20:00–02:00; reservation required.

RooftopNeukölln

A bar on the roof of the Neukölln Arcaden shopping centre — you spot it from the top floor of the car park. Improvised, full of potted plants and wooden benches, with street food and an uncommercial vibe. Berlin's best rooftop for sunset, €4 cover in the evening.

Apr–Oct daily 16:00–24:00 (weather permitting); shorter hours in winter.

ClubLichtenbergpast midnight

An open-air club in a former biscuit factory, a bit out of the centre (Lichtenberg). Open from Friday evening to Monday morning — non-stop. Multiple dance-floor zones, including an outdoor sandy beach with a wooden base. A hippie-techno spirit, a more relaxed door, less touristy than Berghain.
